0010 Using LLMs is like drinking alcohol 2026-03-22
Nobody thinks they have a problem with alcohol, but plenty of people do.
By defaulting to alcohol every time, you forget how to socialize, how to manage stressful situations, how to let time pass, how to have fun.
Many people depend on friction to not over-rely on alcohol. The fact that no alcohol is near them most of the time is the difference between a functional human being and a mess. "Their weakness is not my problem" you might say, because surely you don't have a problem with alcohol, right?
"Everybody drinks it, it cannot be that bad", yet decades of studies show otherwise. That's the marketing departments of very invested corporations making sure that there's no friction for you to get alcohol, and pay for it.
"I'm just having fun". "It helps me reach 10x relax". You're getting a loan for way too much interest rate.
"If I don't drink I feel like I'm being left out". You're not being left out, you're parenting drunk people at that point. Taking care of drunk people is like taking care of children, human-shaped creatures you barely understand and that will make a mess or hurt themselves in any moment.
Using LLMs is like drinking alcohol. Or smoking. Or doomscrolling.
And the phrase "alcohol is here to stay and won't go away" sounds equally hostile and stupid.
